A Month in Review: September and October 2015

This will be a quick one, since I didn't read much, and I was/am still on a semi-hiatus. I posted some updates, including my new blog! Hoping to get back to a good schedule of about 2 or 3 posts a week soon. I'm also working on trying to mix things up more on the blog to take the pressure off of having to read and review. I'm having a tough time thinking of discussions, though, and I don't want to rely on features all the time. Anyway, here's the past two months in review!

Books I Read

I think I might actually start taking this portion out. I've been really bad at keeping up with my personal blog, but if you're interested in that kind of stuff, please head over the Infinite Golden Floors.

A Month in Review: Summer 2015

These past two months have been really interesting. July was all about vacation and family, for better or for worse. August was a continuation and then it was about college and orientation and moving in and being on my own for the first time. I tried new things, did some of the same old stuff, etc.

A Month in Review: June 2015

This has been a crazy month. I had end-of-the-year projects and finals and end-of-the-school-year stuff at the beginning of the month. Then it was Regents and college placement tests and meeting my advisor and scheduling my first semester classes (!). And then there was prom and graduation. Now, I'm buying as much college stuff as possible before I leave on vacation for almost two months. :)

One Dream Only by Elodie Nowodazkij
Something Like Normal by Trish Doller
The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath
Once Upon a Crime by PJ Brackston

Personal:

1. I graduated high school!!! I'm so glad it's over. I'm slightly nervous about college, but I'm mostly excited.
2. This month, I began writing down happy moments of every day before going to sleep. Since starting, I had one bad day where I was just sad for no apparent reason, but it's been so helpful and has been a great way for me to start my journey towards personal happiness.
3. Prom was actually a blast! This whole time, I had been feeling pretty meh about it, and pre-prom didn't help. But once I was there and started dancing and just being around my friends, doing what I wanted and not caring about what others thought about me (because hey, I'm probably not gonna see them ever again!), I actually started to enjoy it. I ended up having a great time.
4. I saw the Royal Ballet when they were in NYC! AHHHH! I saw some of the greats of the Royal Ballet. :D
5. Had my last dance class at my studio before college. *cries*
6. Scheduled my classes for first semester, and I got my dorm assignment!

(On a random note, today's my sister's birthday, so Happy Birthday, Nessa (if you're reading this)!)

A Month in Review: May 2015

It sure has been a long month. It's been full of ups and downs, happy moments and disappointments. And I'm writing this on the 28th, knowing that my last dance show with my dance school is this Sunday, and I know I'm going to cry. Between APs, dance, finals, etc, it's been hard to get anything done, so I'm sorry for taking another short break. But anyway, I'm hoping to read more and blog more in June, but I do still have a Physics NYS Regents, and I need to study for my college math placement test because I don't remember anything from Algebra 2/Trig. But let's get to the summary of this month.

A Month in Review: April 2015

Personal:
1) APs are finally over! I don't think I did very well, but ehh, it's out of my hands now.
2) Dance is almost over, and I'm so sad! This is my last year with my dance studio. I've been dancing there since I was around 5 or 6, so I've been there almost my whole life. It was there that I came to love dance, and it's now such a big part of my life and who I am.
3) Desperately waiting for school to finally be over. :P
4) My school's Model UN conference was on the 30th. Right now, that hasn't passed yet, so I'm hoping I'll win an award. hehe
5) I got to go to Teen Author Carnival, although I couldn't go to BEA (I'M STILL SO SAD ABOUT THIS D: ). I had a great time, though I didn't really know anyone. I did get to meet two fellow bloggers and got a few books signed. Can I just say how nice it is to be recognized from Twitter? Like I didn't think it would feel so great to get that kind of recognition. I sadly still don't have an ARC of Truthwitch (*tear*), but it was so nice to see Sooz again at least.
6) I FORGOT TO MENTION THIS, BUT I WAS INVITED TO SEE DOCTOR ZHIVAGO ON BROADWAY BEFORE IT CLOSED. I have yet to type up my review (though I guess there's not much good that it will do other than promote the cast recording), but be on the lookout for that! It was so amazing to get the opportunity.

A Month in Review: April 2015

It has been another painfully slow month because I've been swamped with school/finals and dance competitions and rehearsals. I barely read anything (again) this month, and I only have a few reviews I need to write before I run out of books to review. I'm eagerly waiting for APs to be over so that I'll barely have any classes left. And my last dance competition is coming up. But then I'll have rehearsals every weekend until my dance show. And then I have to deal with all the stuff for college. AHHHHH.

The Mystery Writers of American Cookbook Anthology
The Body Electric by Beth Revis
The Shadow Cabinet by Maureen Johnson

Personal:
1) I turned 18! It feels like my birthday was so far in the past. :P
2) I am currently dying from finals and AP studying.
3) I finally decided where I'll be going to college! Macaulay Honors College at Hunter College Class of 2019. :)
4) Two dance competitions down, one more to go. Oh man, this is going to be my last competition for the foreseeable future and possibly ever. [Edit: At the point of this posting, I've finished all my competitions!]
5) I started planning my new personal blog, which will hopefully have a completely different aesthetic. I'll definitely post about it once it goes live hopefully this summer.

A Month in Review: March 2015

Hey, lovelies! Somehow, another month has passed us by. March felt simultaneous long and short, with school, college admissions decisions, college visits, dance competition, etc. The spring will be even busier for me, but I can't wait for one hopefully completely free summer vacation this year.

Blog-related news: I created an Instagram for my blog to keep it separate from my personal account. Please check out my feed and follow if you like what you see! I want to get more involved on Instagram and maybe learn a thing or two about photography/book photography. ;)

3) I've actually been okay with juggling Fly to Fiction, Lit Up Review, Feminists Talk Books, and my Instagram account! For now.
4) College visits, accepted students days, the whole shebang.
5) WHY IS IT SNOWING?! IT'S ALREADY SPRING.
6) Eagerly awaiting spring break...

A Month in Review: February 2015

I'm embarrassed to see how long it's been since my last month in review. I actually had a few scheduled for some of the past few months, but they fell through and just *hides my face* Because I've been on a mega hiatus, this month's Month in Review will look a bit different. I want to use this as a chance to catch up, let you guys in on what's been going on, and all that good stuff. Of course, I'll also link to this month's reviews and since I didn't read much this month, I'll include that too.

First things first.
***NEWS***
I'm really excited about this, but besides getting back to blogging, Lit Up Review has also changed one of our members, and we now have a bunch of new contributors! I'm really excited about this, and I think this will be great for all of us at Lit Up.

In addition, we've finally launched Feminists Talk Books! I'm one of five bloggers, and we're super excited about this project. It's been a long time coming, and we're finally open. I'm so passionate about this little blog of ours, and I'm excited for what's to come. Our main goal is to spark discussions, talk about books, talk about feminism, and try to do our small part to make our world and community a better place. I hope you'll check us out, whether you call yourself a feminist or not.

I've been in and out of reading slumps, and my reading pace is so much slower than it usually is right now. I'm currently 11 books behind on my Goodreads challenge, but oh well. There are a bunch of books I've started but haven't finished (that's a bad habit of mine), but anyway.

Personal:
1) Still dancing. Lots of dance. Things are starting to get intense as we near competition season.
2) I WON FAWM (Feb Album Writing Month--the songwriting version of NaNoWriMo) FOR THE FOURTH YEAR IN A ROW! Most of my songs this year were actually inspired by/based on my novel, so if you wanna check it out, click here!
3) President's Week break was the break I needed, but I'm sad we have five full weeks until our next break.
4) I mentioned this already, but it's both a blogging and personal thing: Feminists Talk Books!
5) School, guys. Ugh. And I've begun the wait for college acceptances. The worst part though is still the whole financial aid thing.
6) Lent has begun, and of course I've begun to get cravings for junk food and all that stuff now that Lent has begun. I got to go to church for Ash Wednesday though!
7) What even happened this month? :P Oh yeah, snow and snow days. That's been pretty great...ahem.
