Characterize It (#14): Still Good

Hosted by Em @ The YA Book Butterfly

Still Good (Character that maintains their likeability throughout the series)

I think most characters would fit this, so I'm going to try to choose one from a series I haven't used yet...

Any of the three main characters FROM Percy Jackson and The Olympians series by Rick Riordan

Who are some of your favorite likeable characters?

Characterize It (#13): The Not-So-Clueless

Hosted by Em @ The YA Book Butterfly

The Now-So-Clueless (A character that knows about the supernatural before the book starts)

Assuming this means main character and zombies are considered supernatural...

Eleanor Fitt  FROM Something Strange and Deadly by Susan Dennard
(Basically all the characters in this book)

Which other characters are aware of "the supernatural" before the book starts?

Characterize It (#12): Wild Card

Wild Card (Any favorite character from any book!)

Harper Shaw FROM Fire & Flood by Victoria Scott

I wanted to use a book I haven't (over)used but whose cover I've already uploaded. Fire & Flood has been used before, but it's the best I've got. Besides, it's a different character. ;)

If you've read Fire & Flood, who's your favorite character?

Characterize It (#9): Farm Girl

Farm Girl: Character that lives on a farm at some point

I literally forgot as soon as I started this post, so I'm going to go with...

Laura Ingalls FROM Little House series by Laura Ingalls Wilder

Um...this is because I blanked out. I don't even know if this counts as a farm. Just ignore my post for this week. :P

What's your favorite character that has lived on a farm?

Characterize It (#8): Wild Card

Wild Card: Favorite Secondary Character(s)

The (s) is because there are so many!!! (I consider the majority of love interests as major characters, so they're not included. Ex. Augustus in TFiOS wouldn't be included.)

(Everyone) Luna Lovegood, Neville Longbottom, Albus Dumbledore, Fred & George Weasley, etc etc FROM Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling
Pen AND Alice AND Basil FROM Perfect Ruin by Lauren DeStefano

Reagan AND Levi FROM Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
Isaac FROM The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

Annabeth AND Grover (unless they're considered main characters...because I did consider the Golden Trio main characters for HP...) FROM Percy Jackson and the Olympian series by Rick Riordan
Harper Shaw FROM Fire & Flood by Victoria Scott

Whew!

Who's your favorite secondary character?

Characterize It (#7): The Mr. Darcy

The Mr. Darcy (Male character that acts standoff-ish at first but really is attracted to the female character)

*tries to remember as many books as possible*

Fitzwilliam Darcy (Mr. Darcy) FROM Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
Guy Chambers FROM Fire & Flood by Victoria Scott

1) Why not go with the one this theme was named after? Darcy's the classic example!
2) Yup...I'm still not a huge fan of Guy, but this does fit!

Which male character do you think is standoff-ish but really likes the female character?

Characterize It (#6): The Big Black Hole

The Big Black Hole (A character possessing great depth)

This one was a hard one, partially because I had to try to think about which characters possessed great depth and then which characters were more lacking. It's hard to draw the line! There are so many characters I would include on this list, and it's so hard to decide, so I've decided to play it safe and go with the choice that will (almost) always work.

Basically every character in Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling

Yeah. You probably guessed that one. ;)
The thing is, even if we don't always see the depth her characters possess, particularly in Harry Potter, Rowling had intricate backgrounds and stories around almost every character in the books, if not every single character. She understood and wrote her characters with this deep understanding and depth. There are plenty of characters that portray this depth in the series, but there are plenty that only have small roles. Yet, it would be safe to bet that almost all the characters in Harry Potter were well thought out and written.

Which character do you think possesses great depth?

Characterize It (#5): Regular Old Gall

Regular Old Gall (A realistically portrayed character)

There are so many that I now know of, but these two came into my mind first so!

Elise Dembowski FROM This Song Will Save Your Life by Leila Sales
Cather Avery FROM Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

Again, there are PLENTY more characters, but these were the first ones I thought of!

Which other character do you find extremely realistic?

Characterize It (#4): Wild Card

Wild Card (Favorite Character of Any Kind)
My topic of choice is favorite character(s) from Harry Potter (there are so many that I love, but I'm going to include two).

Hermione Granger--Gryffindor House
Luna Lovegood--Ravenclaw House

Fine, maybe the choices for this week were obvious but sucks for you. If you didn't know already, I'm a huge Potterhead, so I'll take opportunity available to talk about Harry Potter.

(PS. Nope, I'm not a fan of Snape. Sorry not sorry.)

Who's your favorite Harry Potter character?

Characterize It (#3): The Bibliophile

The Bibliophile (Favorite Bookish Female Character)

Celaena Sardothein FROM Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
Cather Avery FROM Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

EDIT: HOW COULD I FORGET THE BIGGEST AND FIRST MEGA BIBLIOPHILE I KNEW OF IN A BOOK???

Hermione Granger FROM Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling

(Do y'know how ashamed I am for forgetting? No? Well, I am.)

Who's your favorite female bibliophile?

Characterize It (#2): The Wicked Witch of the West (Favorite Villain)

The Wicked Witch of the West (Favorite Villain)

This one's a hard one, mainly because I have to think about the villains in the books I've read! I guess I could go with an obvious one...

Bellatrix Lestrange FROM Harry Potter
Lord Voldemort FROM Harry Potter

Yes, both. For different reasons. I love Bellatrix because she's the villain that I love to hate. I really love her as a villain. She's ruthless, cunning, dark, independent, crazy (subjective), and all of that stuff. I don't know why, but I've just always liked her as a villain.
And of course, there's Voldie. :P What do I say about him? I enjoyed how Rowling gave him such a strong, specific background. You could see where he went wrong and what led him to become the villain that he is. (I still like Bellatrix better as a villain, but I didn't think it'd be fair to put Bellatrix and not Voldemort.)

Who's your favorite villain?

Characterize It (#1): The Heavy Lifter ("Strong" Female Characters)

The Heavy Lifter ("Strong" Female Characters)

I put the quotations because I don't necessarily like the word strong, but it's the one used by the host, so I'm going to roll with it.

Anyway, I have a few choices (yeah, I'm cheating. Deal with it. xD). Here we go! (I'm so excited!)

Note: These are my personal opinions, and even for some of these, which I won't point out, I could argue against, but bear with me.

Eleanor Fitt FROM Something Strange and Deadly by Susan Dennard
Celaena Sardothien FROM Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

Eva AND Addie FROM Once We Were by Kat Zhang (Note: This is book 2, but it applies to book 1)
June Iparis FROM Prodigy by Marie Lu (Note: Also a book 2, but applies to book 1)

Rory Deveaux FROM The Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson
Andi Alpers AND Alexandrine Paradise FROM Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly
