My Dream Loot Crate: Nasty Women

Have you looked longingly at subscription boxes like I have? These have boomed in popularity in recent months, and I love looking at unboxings yet haven't been able to justify shelling out the money to subscribe to one yet. One subscription service that I've heard about, namely through Kristina Horner, is Loot Crate Loot Crate, which sounds awesome for geeks and nerds like me. So when they approached me about creating my own "dream crate" I knew I had to jump aboard.

Almost right away I knew I wanted to center my box around awesome female characters, and with the crazy election, my dream box is the NASTY WOMEN box.

Nasty Women Dream Loot Crate

My first choice is this Orphan Black t-shirt because this fabulous array of female characters were the first ones that came to mind. It was hard deciding on a product that could encompass Orphan Black (and there's surprisingly little merch), but this shirt is perfect and lists most of the major kick-ass female clones (portrayed by the equally kick-ass Tatiana Maslany), as well as a few other important characters.

My second choice was another easy one. This Rey print is stunning and also shows BB-8, another favorite. I loved Rey from the moment she appeared on screen in the new Star Wars movie. She's an amazing addition to the SW universe, and Daisy Ridley is perfection. Another easy choice.

Of course no list is complete without some Harry Potter reference. I actually have two different choices because they're possibly my two favorite HP characters, and I couldn't choose which one I wanted to feature more. This is Hermione's wand. Do I even need to explain this choice? Hermione meant so much to me when I was reading Harry Potter for the first time, and she still remains close to my heart. (Also, Emma Watson is perfection.)

The other amazing female character I love in Harry Potter is none other than Luna Lovegood! Her Spectrespecs are so unique to her and everyone who knows the movies will recognize it right away. Luna stays true to herself, regardless of what others will think. She's kind and creative.

Another easy choice is Annabeth from the Percy Jackson series. She, like Hermione, is the brains of the trio. She's such a solid heroine and similarly inspiring as Hermione. I found these books in middle school and am just now realizing how great of a transition it was to find it a few years after the last Harry Potter book. It's no wonder I loved Annabeth! This is an Annabeth Chase candle

This one is a less obvious choice, but this Everyone Deserves Tea mug represents the ladies of The Lizzie Bennet Diaries (and of Pride and Prejudice). Not only do I love tea, but this is also a reminder of sisterly bond that is so strong in the Lizzie Bennet Diaries. And I love all three sisters, the actresses who portray them, as well as the supporting female cast (Charlotte, Gigi).

I'm not sure if the image is hard to see, but this Belle shirt caught my attention right away. Belle has long been one of my favorite Disney princesses (alongside Mulan). Ever since I was a little girl, I've loved Belle. She was one of the first females I saw on screen who loved to read and comforted the bookworm in me.

This was a bit of a late addition, but I've included it for a few reasons. For one, while I personally don't like Katniss, many people do, and this pullover partially represents her. But the other reason I included it is that it represents the thousands/millions of female ballerinas out there. Ballet has sort of been brought back to popular culture thanks to people such as Misty Copeland. As a dancer/ballet dancer myself, I had to throw something in there. Ballerinas (and all dancers) work so hard yet also work to make what they do effortless. They're often not given nearly enough credit and aren't seen as on-par with other athletes, when in many ways, we're more athletic. So I had to include this in my dream box.

I apologize that this Captain Marvel/Ms. Marvel/Kamala Khan pillow isn't included in the overall graphic, but I added this after I made it. As I wrote my honorable mentions/extras below I realized I didn't have any non-white women above, which is a huge and real problem (and also why we need more diversity in popular culture). So Kamala Khan popped into my head. I wanted to pick an item that's different from the others, and this pillow fits that bill.

Another last minute addition not included in the graphic is this Schuyler Sisters sticker. I had them in mind since the beginning, but it slipped my mind as I was finishing up this post. This is such a given. Does it even need explaining?

Extras/Honorable Mentions

There were a few items that don't fit into the popular culture category, so I've listed them here instead.

I absolutely love this image and think a tote would be fabulous. If we're going to talk about feminism, it should be intersectional. Unfortunately, basically all of the women above are white women, and it's important to acknowledge all types of women.

Michelle Obama is all kinds of goals, and I've fallen in love with the recent Strand merch including this quote. This is the magnet, and after the election, this is just so inspiring and lovely. I love Michelle Obama and think she's an amazing figure for all of us to look up to.

And last but not least, I had to include Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's We Should All Be Feminists. To me, Adichie is one of the ultimate feminists, and while there are plenty of others whom I love, she speaks so eloquently and rawly and openly about transnational and intersectional feminism. She supports other women, even if she disagrees with them (see her comments on her feminism vs. Beyonce's feminism). She has been so integral in the recent pushes/fights for feminism, and she is such an important part of educating others on inclusional feminism. I just love her, and I think this (or her TED talk) should be required reading (viewing).

~~~
Ladies, let us continue to be "nasty women." Let's continue to fight for inclusion and diversity, for equality, for respect. Let's continue to support one another and critically discuss issues important to all of us.
Be sure to check out Loot Crate Loot Crate
if you're interested in their subscription boxes!
And let me know below or on Twitter what you would include in your dream crate!
Waiting on Wednesday (#13): None of the Above by I. W. Gregorio and Orphan Black Season 3
This feature is hosted by Breaking the Spine!
For more info on this feature, see my features page. My version is just adapted to include more than just books.
Once again, I'm mentioning Orphan Black on my blog. If you still haven't watched it yet, why not?! Do you not see me freaking out about it all the time? :P Anyway, I'm so pumped for Season 3, and it can't come soon enough! The last season ended with a bang, of course, and I can't wait to see what's going to happen now that there are also male clones. Also another female clone, but she's a little girl, and I still don't really understand that part. Also, I really want to see what's gonna happen with Rachel. Did she die? Does she have an eye patch? How's she going to react? Oh man, this show is just so great, and I will always need more.
None of the Above by I.W. Gregorio
Publisher: Balzer+Bray
Release Date: April 7th, 2015
A groundbreaking story about a teenage girl who discovers she was born intersex . . . and what happens when her secret is revealed to the entire school. Incredibly compelling and sensitively told, None of the Above is a thought-provoking novel that explores what it means to be a boy, a girl, or something in between.
What if everything you knew about yourself changed in an instant?
When Kristin Lattimer is voted homecoming queen, it seems like another piece of her ideal life has fallen into place. She's a champion hurdler with a full scholarship to college and she's madly in love with her boyfriend. In fact, she's decided that she's ready to take things to the next level with him.
But Kristin's first time isn't the perfect moment she's planned--something is very wrong. A visit to the doctor reveals the truth: Kristin is intersex, which means that though she outwardly looks like a girl, she has male chromosomes, not to mention boy "parts."
Dealing with her body is difficult enough, but when her diagnosis is leaked to the whole school, Kristin's entire identity is thrown into question. As her world unravels, can she come to terms with her new self?
Wow, wow, wow. This sounds like an amazing book! None of the Above is so refreshingly new and so needed, in both a sad but positive way. There are already few LGBTQ+ books, but I've never heard of any other YA book that deals with someone who's intersex (which is included in the longer abbreviation I use-LGBTQIA). This book is so important, especially since few people even understand or know what intersex means. I really need to get my hands on this book--birthday present anyone (it comes out the day after my birthday)? ;)
TV Tuesday (#6): Spotlight: Orphan Black
Once a month on a Tuesday, I'll showcase a TV in some way, whether it be an episode review (or bundle), a discussion, some thoughts and reactions, Top Tens, a fan!mix, or a recommendation.
TV Show Showcase: The other day, I had a sudden burst of inspiration. I was thinking about Red Band Society and about my favorite and least favorite character(s) when I suddenly got this idea. For the next few weeks, I'll be spotlighting some of the many shows I watch.  I watch so many shows, but I still haven't talked about most of them on here. I could be writing reviews, but I've been so busy that it's already been a hassle to try to keep up with one or two shows, let alone write some reviews. So this is my way of mentioning and talking about the shows I love.
Today's show is one that I have talked about before, but I'm just too obsessed not to talk about it. It's my favorite show at the moment, hands down.
When did you first start watching the show? Why did you start watching it?
I'm not quite sure! I had known about it because I semi-follow BBC America, but I think I heard one of my friends praise the heck out of the show, and I decided that I needed to watch it. It was probably mid-season 1 when I started watching, possibly earlier. I've been hooked ever since, and I'm SO glad I found this show. Literally the best thing ever. I NEED MORE.
Who's your favorite character?
THIS IS THE HARDEST QUESTION. But I think I have to go with Sarah and Felix. All the clones, really, but I think Sarah edges out a tiny bit. I really love them all, and I love Delphine and Kira and Mrs. S (well, I did then didn't then did) and Paul (well, I did then didn't then did then didn't then did) and Cal.
Who's your least favorite character?
Leekie or Vic or Tomas or the Proletheans
Favorite guest star or addition to the cast?
Cal, Gracie, Doctor Marian (excited to know where the plot is going), Mark. Don't make me pick, though it's probably Cal.
Favorite episode?
HOW ABOUT ALL OF THEM?!
What's your favorite aspect of the show?
Aren't you tired of hearing about it? It's so intense and well-paced in that it's quick but allows you to follow the plot. I love all the plot twists. I love how it explores the complexity of people and shows changing relationships and character growth. The cast is literal perfection, especially Tatiana Maslany. This show is so near perfect I hope it'll remain that way forever.
What's your least favorite aspect of the show?
That it's so short! 10 episodes per season and per year! There are also times when some of the characters annoy me or give me second-hand embarrassment, but in the end, I still love it.
OTP and/or ships?
Conflicted between Sarah/Paul and Sarah/Cal. Delphine/Cosima. Gracie/Mark.
What do you think/predict about the future of the show?
I HOPE IT NEVER ENDS. But in all seriousness, they could take this show anywhere. I have faith that it'll remain perfect and amazing, and I hope I'm not wrong. I think there's a chance it'll become more mainstream, but it's already a cult-favorite. Sure, it's not big-big, likely because it's hard for many people, myself included, to find a place to watch the show, but there's such a large following. I can that only growing, and it makes me so excited. I hope my love never dies.
Review: Nature Under Constraint and Vexed (Orphan Black)
"Nature Under Constraint and Vexed has me hooked for the rest of the season, not that that's a surprise, and kept me at the edge of my seat."
"Season Two has certainly started off with a bang, and if this episode shows anything, fans are in for another amazing season."
I don't know why I even bother to review episodes for this show at this point because you should know that it'll be a solid 5. But anyway.
THIS SHOW. IF YOU'RE NOT WATCHING IT, GO WATCH IT NOW. TRUST ME.
I've waited so long for Season 2, and I can safely say that it started off with a bang. The show continues to be intense, and the cast, crew, and writing continues to make the show the awesomeness that it is. It's so rare to find a show that is almost close to being perfect, but for me, Orphan Black is definitely one of those.
First, let's talk about Tatiana Maslany because you can't discuss OB without talking about Tat. She continues to get so into the roles, and I still sometimes forget that she plays half the cast of characters. She's so incredibly talented, and that continues to shine through. You can just feel how scared and furious she is as Sarah. You can feel how much she just wants normalcy as Alison. You continue to love Cosima and continue to root for her. You continue to potentially have a love-hate relationship over Rachel because you hate her but she's also such an amazing character.  But even on top of that, Tatiana pulls off Sarah pretending to be Cosima. Basically, she perfectly captured a British person trying to pull off an American accent/Cosima's accent. It's so rare for actors and actresses to perfect even one accent on screen, but Tatiana constantly proves how amazing, talented, and dedicated she is as an actress.
The other actors and actresses were amazing too. Jordan Gavaris continues to shine as Felix, and I can't help but continue to laugh at his jokes and fall in love with him. Speaking of characters I love, Dylan Bruce's Paul remains mysterious, and it's so hard to tell which side he's really on! Evelyne Brochu plays the two-faced Delphine well, and I can't wait to see how her story arc with Cosima plays out. And I can't forget to mention Kevin Hanchard's performance as Detective Art Bell. It's so clear that he's conflicted about Sarah and how to handle her, and I really hope they both learn to trust one another.
The episode was fast-paced and heart-racing--Orphan Black's signature style. But as intense as the show is, there's also so much character development and exploration in the show, and Nature Under Constraint and Vexed is no exception. Oftentimes, shows are either intense or character driven and development focused; Orphan Black manages to strike that perfect balance, which is why so many people love the show!
We see what makes Sarah tick right alongside the Dyad Institute. They know how to push her buttons, and it's so great to see her flaws, especially when it's her love for her daughter that makes her such a complex character. We see how far she would go to save Kira, as any mother would. It is so refreshing to be able to see a character on screen that is physically strong, mentally and physically brave, incredibly driven, but also very human--she's also a mother, and the writers perfectly capture how being a mother is a part of who she is and influences the decisions she makes.
The other clones are also slowly starting to develop and grow increasingly complex. Alison joins the community theater, Cosima is still struggling to figure out exactly what she wants to do while also trying to figure out who she is and who she can trust, and Rachel seems infinitely more complex than we've already seen.
Felix continues to provide comic relief, and it's a great way to take a break from the intensity of the show. But Felix is also the rock and logic of the Clone Club. He's the "normal" one under their circumstances. He's the one that tries to reason with the others, and he's always looking out for the clones. He cares deeply about them and will do what he can to help them win their fight against the Dyad, Leekie, and Rachel. He calms them down and makes them think through their actions and plans, and he reminds them that though they are scientific miracles, they're also human. In this episode, Felix shines through, trying to reason with the girls when Sarah wants to execute a highly risky plan. His interactions with Alison are still a highlight of the show, and his banter with Cosima is irreplaceable.
And just the plot of this episode itself. It connects so much of what happened in Season One to the current situation, while also setting up and putting plots into motion for the rest of Season Two. It's so rare to find a show in which I cannot find a flaw in each episode, but I think Orphan Black may be very close to being that show. Nature Under Constraint and Vexed has me hooked for the rest of the season, not that that's a surprise, and kept me at the edge of my seat. They leave so many hints, while also dropping so many misleading hints that it's hard for me to guess what's going to happen next. And they always find the perfect way to end the episode--with me wanting to find out what happens next. I just can't wait for each episode!
Nature Under Constraint and Vexed continues to highlight the reasons why so many people have come to love Orphan Black. It continues to hit that balance between intensity, suspense, and character. The cast continues to shine and create complex characters, making it hard to decipher and predict what each character will do next. Season Two has certainly started off with a bang, and if this episode shows anything, fans are in for another amazing season.
TV Tuesday (#3): Thoughts and Hopes for Orphan Black Season 2
Once a month on a Tuesday, I'll showcase a TV in some way, whether it be an episode review (or bundle), a discussion, some thoughts and reactions, Top Tens, a fan!mix, or a recommendation.
Before I get started, I want to link you to four things:
Season 2 trailer, which part of this is based on
Having recently rewatched Season 1, having recently watched the Season 2 trailer and teaser clips, and having recently gotten Willa @ Willa's Ramblings and Lit Up Review (go check us out! ;)) into Orphan Black, I've been thinking a lot about Season 2 and about my hopes and thoughts/theories for the coming season. So here's a brief(ish) break down of the main parts! (PS. This includes some S1 spoilers!)
New clones--YES NEW CLONES. Apparently we're getting two new clones, which I'm SO excited for! I wonder what their personalities will be like, where they are in life, and how they'll fit into the story. But then the next question is: will some of our beloved clones leave the show? At the moment, I think Cosima has the biggest potential to die, but with such a large fanbase + the whole Delphine storyline, who knows? Helena also has the potential, but I'm not sure! (See below for more) I just can't imagine Tatiana taking on anymore clones. I guess if anyone could do it, it's Tatiana. There's the bald Tatiana in the trailer that could be any of the existing clones or a new clone. (PS. I'm writing this as of 3/12, so there's a large chance we'll learn more before this is posted.)
Rachel aka Pro-Clone--I'm really interested in learning more about the pro-clone. I doubt she's going to die, but I wonder what she's got up her sleeve. I don't really know what else to say about her...
Paul--Paul is such a big give-take character. He could swing either way. In Season 1, he became loyal to Sarah and the Clone Club, yet it seems as if in Season 2, he's siding with the pro-clone (based on the trailer). Maybe he'll go with the side he thinks is winning? I'm HOPING he'll stay loyal to the Clone Club and Sarah. My theory is that he'll stay loyal, but maybe that's just me wishing that was the case. Also, I think stuff about his military past/what happened in Afghanistan will come up this season.
Kira--AHHHH KIRA. Well, I'm going to say she'll definitely be saved/rescued at some point, which is hopefully sooner rather than later. I think they'll learn...interesting things about Kira, such as see what happens when clones create new life *ahem*. Something about how she was able to survive the car crash. Skylar's acting thus far has been spectacular, and I have no doubt she'll continue to shine in the coming season.
Mrs. S--She's definitely somehow involved in this whole thing, but I hope think she's on their side (Sarah/Felix/Clone Club). She seems to really care for Sarah and Felix and Kira (but then again, I guess Paul and Donnie also seemed to really care for Beth and Alison, respectively). I don't think she'd do anything to hurt them. I hope I'm not wrong.
I recently saw a piece of fan!art with Mrs. S as a monitor and that got me thinking. Of course, it's a possibility, but hope there's more to Mrs. S and her involvement. I hope she's not Sarah's monitor, as highly probable as that is.
Police Investigation--I kind of hope Art finds out the whole truth, so that they can work with the police again, but based off of the trailer and teasers, I guess that's not going to happen, at least in the beginning. I'd like for them to work together, as improbable as that is. I just feel like they should focus more on the clones and that fight than on the police investigation aspect of it. I love the characters, but I'm hoping it'll be resolved.
Donnie--Donnie's such an amazing actor (I mean the character himself). I really hope Alison finds out he really is her monitor (though she'd just die of guilt over Aynsley), but I want to see Alison angry again. Is that bad of me to think? Anyway. I hope he'll play a bigger role, but it seems as if unlike Paul, he knows more about what's going on, and he's more willing to leave Alison and side with Leekie and the pro-clone than Paul.
Dr. Leekie--Speaking of Leekie, I'm hoping he'll die this season! I can see that happening, but that would depend on the direction the show goes in. If he's a big part, they'll keep him in, but I'm kinda hoping he'll die. Also, I assume we'll learn more about him, and I hope we learn a bit more about his background
Cosima--I sure hope she doesn't die, but I think she's a give-take character right now, meaning they could go either way with her character. I really just want to see her relationship with Delphine develop and grow. Orphan Black's done such a great job with queer representation and about just allowing it to flow into the story line without making it a big deal. I feel like in general, Cosima's story has always been kind of put on the back burner, with Sarah demanding the most attention and time, so I'm hoping that there will be more focus on Cosima, not just for the audience but also from the clones themselves, and I think that it'll happen, especially with the focus on her illness. She'll definitely be more involved in that aspect, and I'm hoping Delphine won't betray her, especially as she gets sicker and sicker. With the new clone and all, I'm really scared about Cosima's future, but I sure hope she beat the odds or else I'll probably cry.
Felix--Firstly, I think Felix and Alison's relationship will become stronger than it is now. It's funny because they were so different and so annoyed at one another in the beginning. I hope he's the one that will primarily help her deal with her guilt over Aynsley. I also think that with Sarah on the run, they'll be separated again. As in Season 1, they obviously remain close, regardless of where she is, and I think that especially now that he's in on what's going on, he'll understand, but I wonder if it'll place a strain on their relationship. I hope not! I love their banter and obvious love for one another. I hope Felix remains sassy, but I'd like to see him get some more action too (not that kind of action; are you like 12?).
Alison--Oh the guilt she'll suffer. That's for sure. Especially if she finds out Aynsley wasn't involved. I don't think Alison will get arrested for it, but I wonder what will happen when she gets kidnapped. What about her kids? Is she now willing to give up her old, Suburban life? (Not sure she's gonna get kidnapped so...)
Sarah--Of course there's also Sarah. That guy she's with in the trailer? I sure hope that's not Kira's dad, but I can see that potential...I also hope Sarah doesn't get into too much trouble. She has to find Kira, move around Art, deal with Rachel, deal with Leekie, deal with Vic, and so much more! That girl's going to go crazy! But Sarah remains my favorite clone, and the show wouldn't be the same without her. I know that part of it is to keep up with the intensity of the show, but one of these days, I'd like to see a more relaxing episode.
Vic--GAHHH VIC WHYYY. This sort of ties back to the police investigation. I certainly hope it gets resolved soon, and I hope it doesn't end up with all of them being in jail or something. There's so many variables that I don't even have a theory on how they'll go about this situation. But anyway, Vic. I sure hope he's officially gone. Fingers crossed!
Guest Stars--Admittedly, I don't know much about the guest stars, but I do know that Patrick J. Adams will be guest starring, though nobody's announced his role or anything yet. I guess that makes sense, especially if it'll give something away, but. Adams is a fantastic actor (he's the lead in Suits), and I can't wait to see what he brings to the table in the second season.
What's the one thing I can almost guarantee S2 will include? Suspense, drama, intensity, sass, wit, intelligence, fantastic writing, and a fantastic cast and crew. I really can't wait for this coming season. I've been waiting for far too long! Consider yourself lucky, Willa! You haven't had to wait this long for the next season! Anyway, I look forward to Season 2! Be sure to tune in to BBC America THIS SATURDAY for ALL NEW EPISODES! Long live #CloneClub. ;)
Review: Orphan Black--Why Everyone Should Watch This Show
Note: This review assumes that you know the premise of it already.
Let me just start off by saying that I am obsessed with this show right now. I finished all the episodes since I get them on demand and didn't have to search around on the internet, but I want to re-watch them again. This is probably one of the best shows I've ever seen.
This review will be written in sections so first, the characters:
I absolutely love how every character is so unique and how well their interactions are carried out despite, or maybe in spite of, that.
Alison: While I find Alison to (mostly) be extremely stereotypical as a stay at home mom, that's not all that she is. There are other sides of her that I think really make her shine, and even her stereotypical aspect is what makes her so fantastic. If she wasn't so well played, I might feel differently about the character.
Sarah: I love Sarah's attitude and the way she navigates a bad situation. My favorite scenes of Sarah are almost all of her scenes with Kira. You can see how genuinely she cares about her daughter. Sarah's interactions with Felix also stand out. I love them together, and I love that sibling relationship that they have and seeing how much they love and trust one another.
Cosima: And where do I even start with Cosima? I can't talk about my favorite Cosima scene because that would be spoiler-y, but ugh. I'm not a huge fan of her smoking marijuana, but what I love is that her defining characteristic isn't that she's smart or that she's queer. I think that's what's so amazing about all of the clones (and all the characters in general). They're not solely defined by one characteristic, as it is in many shows. They are all multi-faceted and can stand on their own.
Helena: I love her and hate her at the same time. I love her as a character because there are two very opposing sides to her, and that's not necessarily her fault. She's freaky but childish. I think that she just wants somebody to actually care about her and take care of her properly. But I still have to hate her because of all the horrible things she does, although again, perhaps it was more due to her upbringing than who she would be otherwise.
Felix: I love Felix so much, OMG. Like Cosima, his defining characteristic isn't that he's gay. He's supportive of Sarah, Alison, and even Cosima. He's always looking out for his family, whoever he considers that to consist of. I don't even know what else to say about him because he's just so amazing, and I really love Felix. He's funny, supportive, loyal, caring, and everything in between.
Paul: I'm going to admit that I hated him at first. I completely hated him. Now? I feel the exact opposite. I want to go into a discussion about Paul and why I love him, but that'd be spoiler-y so I'll probably write a separate post about that sometime soon. But basically, he's so bad-ass, and I love how he's almost completely different now, at least in how he interacts with Sarah.
BASICALLY, all of the characters are extremely lovable or at least understandable. The clones are all different, yet they work together fabulously. The minor characters (especially Delphine, Kira, and Art) are just as thought out as the rest of the characters, which isn't always a given in a television show. I'm really excited to meet some new clones and see how each character continues to interact with others and respond to the situations they're going to face.
Actors/Actresses (I'm sticking to the main 3):
Tatiana Maslany: HOW DO I EVEN BEGIN??? She is probably one of the most talented actresses out there. You'd see what I mean right away. She puts in so much work for this show, and it really shows. She makes each clone so distinct. You can tell that she's worked really hard to develop the different accents and personalities (she has playlists for all the clones, okay?). Half the time, you'll forget that she plays half of the show's characters. Yeah, that's how amazing she is. I could go on and on, but just ugh. (Also, she can beatbox and dance and what can't she do?)
Jordan Gavaris: Another extremely talented actor! He has also clearly worked really hard at perfecting his accent. The first time you hear him speak regularly, you'll be momentarily taken aback because you'll be expecting the accent. He brings so much to Felix, and he's clearly invested in the show and the character. I love how he handles questions about Felix being part of the LGBT community. (Plus, he's great at singing T. Swift songs.)
Dylan Bruce: People have had different reactions and opinions on him, especially with regards to how he is with the rest of the cast. But I'm putting that aside and sticking with him as Paul. While not nearly as fantastic as Jordan and Tatiana, I think Dylan does a great job with Paul. You can really see the shift in the character when he starts interacting with Sarah rather than Sarah as Beth. Also, the amount of pain he's visibly in when he sees that Sarah is hurt(ing) and there's nothing he can do about it is so well executed. Again, I'd discuss my favorite Paul scene, but that'd be spoiler-y.
The plot itself and the execution of it:
I don't even know where to begin. The premise is clever and new and future-istic, I believe. The writers are great at what they do, and I love that they work with Tatiana to develop characters and the script itself because she's such a huge part of the show, and she clearly has many great ideas. Every episode is so intense. You might not like the show if you're really not into intense stuff, but I'd really suggest giving it a shot anyway. Every episode keeps my heart pounding for the entirety of it, and the execution of the plot is extremely well done, thanks to both the writers and behind-the-scenes people, but also the extremely well cast actors and actresses. There are so many directions that this show can take, and I'm really excited for the future of this show because I know that that direction will be a great one.
If I wasn't writing a concrete review, I'd just be fangirling heavily over the show, but I guess I do that anyway. But really, I highly recommend this show, and I wish I had started it slightly earlier. I don't know how I'll be able to wait until April for new episodes, but I know it'll be worth it. If you do watch the show and fall in love, let me know!
