Release Date: October 15th, 2013
Disclaimer: I received a copy of the book from the author. This did not affect my review in any way.
Reviewer's Note: This is the first time I've reviewed a picture book, and I have no idea how to do this well, so this will be very short.
The Yellow Umbrella is short, cute, and imaginative. The illustrations are very well done and go right along with the words. It's a truly inspirational read, and I think everyone can get something out of it, no matter how old one is. I definitely recommend this to parents to read to their children.
Mmm, I've never reviewed a picture book either! What made you pick it up? I read a LOT of picture-books with my nephew/niece (they're both toddlers), and I have a lot of fun picking them apart. Picture books sometimes have the worst and most disturbing morals in the world, though. >_< I'm thinking of doing a post on it at some point...like seriously, have you ever sat down and read Winnie the Pooh? It advocates starvation as a way to get skinny. I'm not even joking. But anyway! Sweet review and this looks like a fun one!
ReplyDeleteThe author actually asked me if I'd like to review it, and it was different from my normal stuff, so I said yes! Yeah, I think a lot of them surprisingly do, though I think some of the newer ones are better about it. (It's obviously been a while, so I can't be certain. Also, I think many of the ones I read when I was younger were okay. Maybe I'd have a different perspective on it now though.) Ooo, that'd be SUCH an interesting post.
DeleteThanks, and thanks for commenting! :)
